(01) Overview
The Business
Bruno Bakehouse is a contemporary artisan bakery in Oakville built around the simple pleasure of good bread, thoughtful ingredients and the neighbourhood ritual of visiting a local bakehouse. The brand needed to feel rooted in traditional baking without becoming nostalgic or rustic. Our direction combined the warmth of an old world bakehouse with the clarity and restraint of a modern neighbourhood brand, creating an identity that feels established, welcoming and distinctly connected to craft.

Brand Positioning
Bruno sits between the traditional artisan bakery and the contemporary café. It is approachable enough to become part of an everyday routine, while still communicating the care, time and craft behind naturally made breads and pastries.
The visual world is warm, earthy and optimistic, drawing from wheat fields, rural landscapes, stone ovens, rising sunlight and the tactile character of freshly baked bread.
At the centre of the brand is a simple idea:
Good Bread. Brighter Days.
It captures Bruno as more than a place to buy bread. It is a neighbourhood experience built around freshness, warmth and small everyday moments.

The Identity
The Bruno emblem was designed as a miniature landscape of the brand itself.
An arched frame references both traditional bakery windows and the architecture of a hearth. Within it, a rising sun represents morning, warmth and new beginnings. Rolling fields establish a connection to place and ingredients, while wheat represents the raw material at the heart of the bakery.
A handcrafted loaf sits prominently within the scene, connecting agriculture to the finished product, while the oven introduces the final element of transformation: craft.
Rather than using these elements as separate decorative icons, they were composed into one cohesive mark that tells the complete Bruno story at a glance.
The identity uses a palette of terracotta, wheat, cream and muted sage, creating a natural visual language inspired by grain, earth, leaves and the warmth of the oven.

Menu Design
The menu system extends the landscape language of the identity without competing with the information customers need most.
Bread, pastries, viennoiserie, coffee and seasonal offerings are organised through a clear hierarchy, while illustrations derived from the Bruno landscape create continuity between the logo and the physical space.
The result feels more like part of the bakery interior than a separate communication piece.

Window Graphics
The storefront gave us an opportunity to expand the identity beyond the logo.
Individual elements from the emblem, including the sun, wheat, landscape lines, foliage and oven architecture, were enlarged and reconfigured across the glass. The graphics frame views into the bakery rather than covering them, allowing the activity, products and warmth inside the space to remain visible.
Messaging such as “Artisan Bread · Pastries · Coffee” and “Good Bread. Brighter Days.” is integrated into the illustration system, turning the windows into both signage and a recognizable piece of the brand experience.
The window graphics were considered from design development through production artwork and final application, ensuring the identity could translate successfully from screen to large format vinyl.

Bruno Bakehouse demonstrates how a detailed identity can grow beyond a logo into a physical environment.
From the illustrated emblem to the menu and storefront, every touchpoint draws from the same visual vocabulary, creating a bakery that feels warm, crafted and recognisable before the customer even walks through the door.
